I am Mavis Phua, a clinical psychologist and an advocate for bringing psychology into everyday life and the workplace. To me, psychology is more than a profession—it is a way of understanding people, connecting with them, and walking alongside them through life's ups and downs.

Trained in psychotherapy and clinical assessment, I provide psychological evaluations, diagnostic insights, and one-on-one therapy for a wide range of concerns, including emotional distress, attention and focus issues, self-awareness, and personality exploration. My core approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), complemented with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills such as emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

I work with clients across different life stages—children, adolescents, parents, couples, and adults—supporting those experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship conflicts, and self-worth issues, as well as individuals navigating life transitions. In the therapy room, I believe genuine listening and understanding are the foundation for change, and I strive to create a space where every person feels seen, respected, and supported.

What Our Client Says

Here is what our clients had to say about Capyness Psychology

I had few sessions with Ms.Hui Tzi now and I really loved how kind and understanding is the psychologist. I had experience in the past where in other clinic, I treated like something is wrong with me and made me uncomfortable but here, I feel like talking to a casual friend. I felt very welcomed and felt valid to work on my struggles. Thank you!

Felita

Jen

I've had sessions with Ms. Mavis at Capyness Psychology, and I'm truly grateful for the support she has given me. She has a very calm and understanding way of listening, and I always felt safe to share what I was going through. Mavis helped me look at things from a different perspective and guided me step by step to manage my thoughts and emotions better.

Chris

Hui Tzi did an amazing job running the workshop on overthinking and anxious thoughts. She created a safe space where everyone felt comfortable sharing their thoughts. Throughout the workshop, her interactions and thoughtful questions helped guide me gain a meaningful reflection and takeaways. 🫶🏽

Have had a relaxing and reflective session with the making of scent inhaler and doing a simple screening. Mavis was very helpful and informative and patient in guiding us to get to know our emotions and creating our own scent inhaler.

Leonard Lim

Amanda

I'm really thankful for the sessions I had with Clara. She created a safe and supportive space where I could share openly without feeling judged. Clara guided me with practical tools while also helping me understand myself on a deeper level. Her warmth and encouragement gave me the courage to face challenges with more clarity and strength. Truly grateful for her guidance and kindness.
